From an architectural standpoint, there's nothing quite like it on Grand Avenue, with its open, airy and inviting layout. And, you'd be hard pressed to find unique American fare like Cafe 382's chicken and waffles or their "Hangover" egg dish anywhere in the vicinity.
“We noticed there wasn’t a strong presence of American food in the Downtown South San Francisco space,” says Billy Panos, co-owner.
All in the Family
Billy and his brother Kosta have been in the business since childhood, helping out with family restaurant ventures along the way. The Panos family owned and operated the Sugar Plum in Laurel Heights in San Francisco from 1979 to 1991 as well as Lakeside Cafe on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco from 1989 to 2013. Currently, Billy is the co-founder/owner of the popular Boulevard Café in Daly City which opened in 2005.
Location, Location, Location
Café 382 is conveniently located on sunny Grand Avenue at Maple Avenue and enjoys plenty of street parking. The casual cafe offers outdoor patio seating (they’re dog-friendly and have heat lamps) and bright, comfy indoor seating.
“The sense of community and outpouring of support from just about everyone; residents, local businesses, biotechs, has been incredible,” adds Kosta Panos, co-owner.
And the community has spoken. Open for a little over a month, the café already has a 4-star rating on Yelp with 35 reviews and over 350 likes on Facebook. Now on to the food.
What’s trending? According to Panos, “so far, our most popular dishes are chicken and waffles and our variations of eggs benedict. Our burgers and fresh selection of organic salads are also very popular.” YUM. “It’s so rewarding making hungry people happy.”
