Monthly Book Club
Treat yourself! Read a good book, meet new people and have fun with the South San Francisco Public Library Book Club. To see what we're reading this month, check out the club's 2017 Reading List.
The Book Club meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium, 840 West Orange Avenue. For more information, call 650-829-3860. The book club does not meet in December.
We’ll provide the drinks and dinnerware, you provide one completed recipe and contributions to our discussion. Here’s how it works: each meeting has a theme, and you are welcome to choose any cookbook you’d like from our collection. Make a dish related to that meeting’s theme and bring both your dish and cookbook to the meeting to share with the group. Cookbook Club is your chance to check out that new book you’ve had your eye on or share an old favorite with new friends.

Online Book Club
So many books, so little time. For all those busy people, the South San Francisco Public Library offers an Online Book Club that delivers books electronically. Each day, Monday through Friday, the library emails subscribers a portion of a book that takes about 5-minutes to read. They're able to read two or three chapters from a book during the week. If they like a book, they can check it out of the library. Each week the library features new books.
With 11 book clubs to choose from, there's something for everyone. Patrons can read Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Business, Good News, Teen, Mystery, They can also listen to Audio Books in their email and there's even a Pre-Publication Club. You can start reading books in your email before they're even published. Now you can discover great books, even if you're too busy to visit the library.
Library Director Valerie Sommer says, "This new service makes it easy for people to get back into the habit of reading. It only takes 5-minutes a day and it's fun."
Sign up now to start enjoying your favorite book clubs!
You can also forward the emails to your friends. It's a great way to stay in touch with friends and relatives that live in other parts of the country.
