A new program is just starting at the Community Learning Center! Let’s Read @ The Library offers an online course free to help native Spanish speakers improve their reading and writing in Spanish. In partnership with the South San Francisco Public Library, the Centro Latino for Literacy awarded this program only to 10 public library sites in California. The Library Services and Technology Act supplemented funding for implementation. Who will be served? Native Spanish speakers who are living in the area and may be attending English classes with difficulty since their primary language literacy is low. Locally, 78% of students enrolled in the adult education ESL program are of Hispanic origin.
If you know of a Spanish speaking adult who needs help to read or write, please call (650) 877-8540 or contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
If you are a Spanish speaker who wants to help as a tutor sharing your love for reading, please let us know. Helping someone develop as a reader is releasing a permanent blindfold from their eyes. Your gift of time will open doors to success in a world which operates on the written word!
