Main - Whole Food Plant Based Diet and Cardiovascular Disease-What You Should Know

A whole food plant based diet emphasizes whole, minimally processed foods. It limits, or, ideally avoids animal products. The focus of this diet is on plants, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, seeds and nuts, which make up the majority of what you eat. Many people believe that this is a vegetarian, or, vegan diet but there are differences. In this talk, we will compare a whole food plant based diet with other diets. In addition, we will see how many of the chronic diseases that we all face with age are very dependent on our diet and how a whole food plant based diet decreases our risk of many of them.

John Erve has a masters in Chemistry from the University of Chicago and a Doctorate in Toxicology from Oregon State University. He worked as a scientist is the pharmaceutical industry which included time spent at some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical firms in both the US and Europe. Since 2012, he has been serving as a consultant to the biotech community in the SF Bay area. In 2017, he completed the online Certificate Program on Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University.
