Supporting student achievement at Big Lift Inspiring Summers

Another way South San Francisco Public Library helped kids read this summer - the Big Lift Inspiring Summers literacy program.  Library staff Bobby, Brianna and Carlos served as site coaches at Los Cerritos, Spruce, and Sunshine Gardens elementary schools, serving over 400 low-income kids every day!


  • served over 400 kids each day in So. San Francisco
  • last year, kids averaged a 3 month net change in reading progress
  • each child took two field trips to places such as CuriOdyssey and Bay Area Discovery Museum

Instead of regressing, Big Lift kids actually improved their reading skills over the summer!
