Liza-Normandy1Liza Normandy is the newest member of the City Council, elected in November 2013. She previously served on the South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees, serving as Board President from 2008-2010. She was the first Asian-American elected to the School Board, is the second Asian-American elected to the City Council, and only the third woman to serve on the South San Francisco City Council. 

Her accomplishments while on the School Board include:

  • Served as a member of the San Mateo County School Board Association.
  • Worked on the Alternative to Expulsion Program, launched in 2010, was designed to find alternatives for students with disciplinary challenges, which received a Kent Award from the County School Board Association in 2013.
  • Opened district governance by helping arrange for the first televised board meeting of the board of education in South San Francisco
