The Department of Economic and Community Development is responsible for the preservation and improvement of the physical and economic conditions of the South San Francisco Community. The Department provides the administrative oversight that contributes to the successful completion of the goals, objectives, and daily operations of the Division of Economic Development, Redevelopment, Building, Planning, Housing and Community Development, and the Parking District.
Alex Greenwood, Director of Economic & Community Development
Alex Greenwood is the Director of Economic & Community Development for the City of South San Francisco. He oversees all planning, building, housing, and economic development for the city, leading a high-performing department of 27 staff. During his 20-year career, Alex has focused primarily on economic development and redevelopment, and he has managed projects that have generated more than 5,000 new jobs and $300 million in new construction to diverse urban areas. His projects have won top awards from the San Francisco Business Times, California Local Economic Development Association, California Downtown Association, Rudy Bruner Foundation, and other organizations.
