The South San Francisco Friends of Parks and Recreation is a non-profit volunteer citizen's group organized to support parks, programs, and facilities.

Activities

  • Raise funds through memberships and programs to help develop parks and recreation resources beyond what is provided through the City's budget to the Parks and Recreation Department
  • Help with many of the activities sponsored by the City and participate in fun and worthwhile projects.

Events

Paint with Friends
The South San Francisco Friends of Parks and Recreation will be hosting the Paint with Friends event on Friday, September 7 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Joseph A. Fernekes Recreation Building in Orange Memorial Park. Join us for a fun paint and wine night! Doors will open at 6:00pm with lessons beginning at 6:30pm. Admission is $50 per person. The cost includes:

  • Painting instruction by Artist on Wheels Studio
  • Take home canvas
  • Art Supplies
  • Wine and appetizers

Pre-registration is required. Participants must be 21 years and older. Registration form can be found here.

Basic Friend
$15 annually

Family Friend
$25 annually
Receive $10 gift certificate towards Recreation classes and programs

Corporate Friend 
 $150 annually
Receive $10 gift certificate towards Recreation classes and programs
Recognition in the Department Leisure Guide (mailed to 20,000+ SSF residents)

Volunteer Clubs and Organizations

South San Francisco is fortunate to have many volunteer clubs and organizations that organize a variety of recreational and enrichment activities. Groups that have requested permission to use public facilities to conduct their activities are subject to conditions of co-sponsorship to ensure activities are non-profit and group membership is open to the public.
