Public Art Opportunity in South San Francisco
The Cultural Arts Commission invites artists and creative community members to create stunning South City streetscapes by transforming drab utility boxes into splendid works of art! Distinctive images that celebrate beauty, offer a positive outlook and create a sense of identity and place are welcome. Designs that reflect the history, diversity, character or culture of South San Francisco are encouraged.

Announcing 2019 Jack Drago Cultural Arts Commission Youth Art Scholarship
APPLICATION DEADLINE - Tuesday, April 16, 2019
The Cultural Arts Commission is awarding a $500 minimum scholarship to a graduating South San Francisco Unified School District senior who has shown achievement in the arts. Student applicants must be graduating SSFUSD seniors planning on continuing studies in the arts. There is a possibility of one winner at each of the three high schools in SSF: South San Francisco High School, El Camino High School, and Baden High School. The finalist from each school will receive a minimum award of $500 (five hundred dollars). The Cultural Arts Commission may elect to increase the final award if funds are available.
The award will be presented at each school's Senior Awards Night. The finalist will also be invited to a second presentation at a televised City Council meeting. Attendance to one of these presentations is required in order to receive the award. The finalist's original art may be featured in an extended exhibit at the Municipal Services Building. Completed applications and attached samples of the applicant’s artwork must be received by Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Calling all Quilters - Entries are Invited
Quilting enthusiasts are invited to submit entries for “Floral Mania - A Quilting Exhibit.” Participation is open to Bay Area residents. The two-day exhibit will open on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and continue on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The deadline for entry and quilt delivery is Wednesday, May 8, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Quilts, with completed applications and fees, should be delivered to the Betty Weber Gallery at the Municipal Services Building, 33 Arroyo Drive, in South San Francisco.
