Main - A Whole Food Plant Based Diet and its Effect on Cancer

A whole food plant-based diet (WFPBD) emphasizes whole, minimally processed foods. In particular, it avoids animal products and minimizes added oils. The focus of this diet is on plants, including vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, seeds and nuts, which make up the majority of what you eat. In this talk, we discuss in more detail what constitutes a WFPBD and give specific examples of dietary components that help our bodies stay healthy. In addition, we will review the evidence that some common cancers including those of the colon, breast and prostate are linked to diet and how a WFPBD can help decrease our risk of these specific cancers.
