Food for Fines is Back!
South San Francisco Public Library is pleased to announce the return of the Food for Fines holiday food drive, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, beginning November 1st.
All are invited to participate in Food for Fines by bringing sealed, non-perishable food items to the West Orange and/or Grand Avenue libraries. Most non-perishable items will be accepted. Items that have been opened or packaged in glass cannot be accepted. The following items would be most appreciated:
* canned tuna, chicken, or salmon
* peanut butter
* soup, stew, chili
* low-sodium canned vegetables
* canned fruit in its own juice or water
* olive or canola oil
* dried spices or spice blends
* granola bars, nuts, dried fruit
Last year, the Food for Fines program brought in 36,000 pounds of food countywide, providing assistance to nearly 1,500 families.
Any amount of food helps. By making a donation, you will be eligible to have your late fines* waived from most Peninsula Library System libraries.
This holiday season, we hope you’ll join the Library in providing assistance to those who are less fortunate.
