Our library locations have a variety of resource and services available while in the library. Visit us to use a computer, print a document, make a copy, receive technical assistance and more.

Computers, Laptops & Wi-Fi

All three library facilities offer computers with Microsoft Office and internet access for public use. Additionally, free Wi-Fi is available in all library facilities.

Main Library has a laptop checkout station, which includes 10 Dell laptops and 10 Chromebooks for use within the library. You must have a library card to checkout a laptop.

Copy, Print & Scan

Print in the Library

The library offers printing in black & white and color.

  • The cost to print black and white is $.15 a page.
  • The cost to print color is $.35 a page. Color printing is only available at the Main Library location.

Print from Anywhere

You can print from email, from your mobile device, or from your laptop or home desktop, and pick up your prints at the library.

Copy

Both libraries have a black & white copy machine. The cost is $.20 a page.

The Main Library has a color copy machine and scanner. Color copies are $.35 a page.

Scan

The Main Library offers a scanning station. Please bring your own USB or Flash Drive.

Inter Library Loan Services

South San Francisco Public Library offers out-of-county inter-library loan services (ILL) to our library patrons. The goal of the South San Francisco Public Library Inter-Library Loan Service is to provide patrons with access to books/materials at libraries nationwide that cooperate with us.

The inter-library loan fee (non-refundable) is payable at time of request. The fee is $7.00 per item for South San Francisco residents and $9.00 per item for non-residents.

Know-How Kits

Know-How Kits aid caregivers and families with engaging adult learners with developmental disabilities at home. The Know-How Kits are theme based and provide tools, activities and games to teach independent living skills, money management, healthy eating, problem solving, time management, reading and writing. Memory Activity Kits aid caregivers and families in providing mental stimulation to members experiencing dementia or Alzhemier's. Visit the Main Library to checkout a kit.

South City Explorer Packs

South City Explorer Packs are backpacks with tools and equipment to explore the great outdoors. Check out a pack and go for a hike. Visit the Main Library to checkout a backpack.

The main library has a collection of wearable fitness and activity trackers that you can check out and use at home.

Fitbit Inspire HR - This waterproof fitness tracker tracks your steps and your sleep.

Fitbit Alta - This wireless activity tracker allows you to track steps, distance moved, calories burned, activity hours, and reminders to get up and move.

Garmin vivoactive HR - GPS-enabled, waterproof fitness tracker that calculates stair climbing and activity intensity.

Polar A360 - Waterproof activity tracker with heart rate monitor and personalized training guidance.

Blast Golf 360 - practice your golf swing anywhere, with real-time feedback.

GoPro HERO Session - Become the next YouTube sensation! Use this tough, tiny camera to record just about anything. You can use it as a dash cam, make how-to videos, give virtual tours, or record your favorite hiking trails. If you can imagine it, you can make a movie out of it.

 

Museum Passes

Discover & Go

Discover & Go provides free or discounted access to museums and other cultural and educational institutions and attractions, such as the Asian Art Museum, California Academy of Sciences, California Historical Society, and even the Napa Valley Wine Train. As a South San Francisco Library card holder, you have access to numerous museums and cultural institutions throughout the Bay Area. The Discover & Go service is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

The Fine Print:

  • You must have a valid South San Francisco Library card. Your library card number must start with '29048'.
  • You must be at least 16 years old
  • You may not use an e-Card or institutional card
  • You may have up to 2 reservations at a time
  • You may cancel a reservation only if you have not already printed the admission pass
  • The pass is for use only by the person named and only on the date specified. No photocopies are allowed. Valid ID is required

Services for People with Disabilities

The Library provides reserved computer stations with Zoom Text magnification software, Purple Video Relay Service webcams for video calls, Dragon Naturally Speaking voice to text software, and Window-Eyes screen reader. These stations also have webcams, scanners, and optional enlarged keyboards and mice.

Other services for patrons include staff assistance in reaching library materials, and sign language interpretation or other accommodations for library programs. Accommodations at library programs can be arranged by completing the Public Library Accommodation Request Form(PDF, 198KB).
