Citizen RIMS is a free, easy-to-use online platform that gives the public access to data on crime, arrests, and calls for service in South San Francisco. It’s part of the South San Francisco Police Department’s commitment to transparency and community safety.

 

How do I access the tool?

Visit southsanfranciscopd.citizenrims.com to get started.

 

Why does a disclosure pop up when I visit?

A standard disclosure appears every time you enter the site. It provides important information—please take a moment to review it, then click “Close” to continue.

 

What can I do from the homepage?

From the left-hand menu, you can:

  • Explore Calls for Service

Review Crime and Stop Data Statistics

 

What kind of statistics are available?

  • Stop Data Statistics: See demographic data on individuals stopped by police.
  • Crime Statistics: View totals by crime type, time, and more.

 

What’s the difference between “Crime” and “Activity” on the map?

Crime = open cases

Activity = police-initiated actions or calls for service

These are for general information only and do not show the exact location of incidents.

 

Can I explore specific neighborhoods?

Yes! Zoom in, pan around the map, and click icons to see more details. You can also apply filters by:

  • Date range
  • Type of incident
  • Location

 

Are there other views available?

Yes! Use the button in the top-right corner of the map to switch to Satellite or Terrain view.

Does this tool cover every incident in South San Francisco?

No. There are some categories that due to privacy concerns, victim confidentialities, and other legal limitations may not be included in this public-facing tool.

How far back does the data go?

Citizen RIMS currently shows data starting from January 1, 2025.

No, Citizen RIMS is not connected to the Citizen app. Citizen RIMS is a police-run website for accessing crime and arrest data, while the Citizen app is a private mobile app that sends user-reported alerts.
