SSFPL Book Club

Book Club meets every third Tuesday in the Community Room on the 2nd floor in the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 6pm. No registration is required. You are not required to read the book, but be prepared for spoilers!

Roaming Readers is a monthly outdoor book club dedicated to bringing nature into our daily lives while learning about our outside world through books, and to exercise.

Do you want to improve your Spanish in a friendly and relaxed environment? Join the Spanish Conversation Group! We meet on Mondays from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the Community Room to chat, learn and share with other language enthusiasts. No matter your level, everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing you!

Online Resources

O'Reilly for Public Libraries offers online classes, ebooks, and video content focusing on technology and business skills, including topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), programming languages, web design, and more. Browse the Libby app to see their collection of ebooks and magazines, such as Wired, Popular Mechanics, PCWorld, and more.

Crafts, Knitting & DIY

Adult Crafternoon

Learn a new project every month and meet some new crafting friends at the Library! We offer this program series at the Main Library. Visit the calendar for more information on the next event, or sign up for our newsletter. This program is made possible by the South San Francisco Friends of the Library.

The Mending Hour - Thursdays

Join us in the Amgen Discovery Center for a mini-mending workshop. There will be sewing machines, thread and needles to put your torn stuff back in good repair.

Saturday Morning Yarn

Calling all Knitters and Crocheters, Saturday yarn crafting is back at the Main Library! Newcomers are welcome and there will be limited supplies and instruction available. Work on an established project or start a new one—experienced craftspeople will be on hand to assist you, should you have questions. We hope to see you there!

Discovery Center Resources

We have sewing machines available in the Discovery Center by reservation or drop-in usage when available. The Main Library's Makerspace also offers a variety of equipment such as Cameo Silhouette and Cricut cutting machines, 3D printers, laser cutter, Apple Pencils for digital drawing, and more.

Online Resources

Hoopla Digital provides access to resources such as Creativebug (video classes taught by top artists and downloadable resources that teach you how to crochet, knit, paint, draw, sew, quilt and more) and other craft ebooks. Libby also has a collection of ebooks available on various craft skills.

Health and Wellness

Community Room

The Community Room is open during Library operating hours, unless booked for a program. This space is open to all ages, but we have resources available with older adults in mind: brain games, board games, puzzles, coloring books, sewing machines and more! Located on the second floor near the Youth Library and Makerspace.

Chair Yoga at the Library

Open to all adults 19+, but specifically designed with seniors in mind, this free session is offered on select Friday afternoons. Check our calendar for details on dates and times.

Online Resources

Hoopla Digital provides access to resources such as Get Healthy U TV (strength, cardio, kickboxing, barre, bodyweight, low impact, yoga, and more) and Puzzle Palace (sudoku, crossword, and word games).
