Mayor Eddie's Newsletter - October 10, 2025
Published on October 10, 2025
Hello South City Community,

This October, the City of South San Francisco lit the tree on Sign Hill pink as a bright symbol of hope, remembrance, and solidarity with all those affected by breast cancer. Each light represents a story: a survivor, a loved one, a neighbor, or someone still fighting. But let it also be this: a reminder that awareness saves lives!
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women in the United States, affecting about 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. The good news is that early detection saves lives. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening mammograms every two years for women ages 40 to 74, and even earlier for those with higher risk factors. Breast cancer affects men too, so make sure to have conversations with your doctor about preventive measures.
If you or someone you love needs support or more information, visit:
Let Sign Hill’s pink glow provide hope that as a community, we stand together in strength, compassion, and hope!

Let’s keep South City healthy this season — roll up your sleeve and stop the flu in its tracks!
Help Reenvision El Camino Real in South San Francisco – Join us at the October 30 Community Workshop or fill out our survey!

The City has recently kicked-off an effort to create the El Camino Real Mobility Plan, and we want to hear from you! We will be hosting a Community Workshop at the Library | Parks and Recreation Center on Thursday, October 30th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. A light meal, translation, and childcare will be provided. Registration is not required but will help our planning – if you plan to attend, please help us get a headcount by filling out this form.
Can’t make it to the workshop? Share your thoughts via our survey which can be found here. The survey will take less than five minutes.
The goal of the El Camino Real Mobility Plan is to design an El Camino Real that is safer for all users, and more pleasant and comfortable for people walking, bicycling, and riding the bus. Through this plan, we will develop concept designs for the future of El Camino Real. Responses to the survey will guide revisions to the draft designs for El Camino Real. Our work on the ECR Mobility Plan began in the fall of 2025 and will continue through the Spring of 2026.
