We are excited to announce that City staff has secured a $345,717 grant in Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds to install a protected bike lane along Junipero Serra Blvd (JSB). The majority of the construction for this project will be funded through this TDA grant.
The JSB corridor is identified as a low-stress bikeway facility in the Active South City Plan. To further advance the City’s commitment to sustainable, multimodal mobility, this project will include the installation of physical barriers—specifically, green K71 bollards.
Yes, there will be minimal traffic impacts with lane closures during construction. Every effort will be made to maintain access for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists throughout the construction period.

Note: Please be aware that, with a few exceptions, it is generally illegal to drive or stop in a designated bike lane under California Vehicle Code Section 21209.
A K71 bollard is a flexible safety post that helps protect bike lanes and they are widely used across cities.
