New Hi-Lo Sirens for Evacuations

Police sirens on with the evening background

August is Disaster Preparedness Month, and we want South San Francisco residents to be ready.

SSFPD vehicles are now equipped with the Hi-Lo siren; a unique high-low tone only used during emergencies that require immediate evacuation.

You won’t hear this during routine calls. It’s meant to grab your attention fast during major incidents like wildfires or other disasters where communication systems may be impacted.

Hear the Hi-Lo? It means GO.
Grab your go-bag, your loved ones, and evacuate immediately.

Watch Lt. O’Connor explain in the video, and hear what the Hi-Lo sounds like so you’ll recognize it. Come join us at National Night Out tomorrow evening for demos of the new Hi-Lo siren. We’ll be visiting several of the locations to connect with the community, and help you stay prepared.
