Hello South San Francisco Community,

Eddie Headshot.jpg

I know it’s been a very full week. There’s still so much unfolding with the new administration, and I want to acknowledge the possible fear and anxiety that some may be experiencing as a result. Please know that as a City, we are committed to learning as much as we can, and we’ll work together to care for our great city and protect our communities. You are not alone. Our diverse community is one of my absolute favorite things about our beloved South City, and creating an inclusive, diverse and safe environment is a priority for me and my council. Please stay tuned, as we’ll share more resources and information and make them readily available.

A series of “Know Your Rights” community workshops, tabling events and info sessions on immigration rights, legal resources and services are being held throughout San Mateo County and are offered in English and Spanish. They are open to all residents, regardless of immigration status. They are organized by the County's Office of Community Affairs in partnership with nonprofit and community organizations. For more information about upcoming workshops, call 650-363-4194 or email: immigrantservices@smcgov.org

We are looking into partnering and holding some of these in the weeks to come in South City. For now, please stay informed and learn more about your rights and get resources at https://www.smcgov.org/ceo/know-your-rights.

As your mayor and a proud immigrant, please know I am here to ensure that South City remains an inclusive and safe city for all individuals and ensure that our communities continue to thrive! More to come, as our work is just beginning. Stay tuned.

Cafecito with Mayor Eddie

Mayor Eddie and City staff with residents at Antigua Cafe with a TV and menu behind them

Thank you to everyone who joined me and City Manager Sharon Ranals for our first Cafecito with Mayor Eddie at Antigua Café at this past Saturday! It was a fantastic way to kick off the weekend and this community meeting series with great conversation, community, and of course, amazing coffee. We had over 75 attendees and a packed house, all thanks to your support. I enjoyed meeting so many of you and welcome your ideas, concerns and conversations, as they are important to me. Be sure to read through our newsletters and follow us on social media for details on the next Cafecito coming up in March!
