Hello South San Francisco Community,

Happy Mental Health Month!
I’ll continue saying this until the it’s no longer a stigma: Mental health is health — and it deserves the same care, attention, and compassion as physical health. That’s why our City joined the Mental Health Ice Bucket Challenge (thanks to the City of Brisbane for the nomination) to help raise awareness, and show our support for those impacted by mental health conditions.

We came together and attended the recent Public Safety Community Meeting
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Public Safety Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 13. I want to acknowledge my colleague Councilmember James Coleman (District 4) and our Police Chief Scott Campbell for hosting this important conversation, and being transparent about the dialogue and what was shared. Thank you to our community for showing up, asking thoughtful questions, and seeking understanding. We hold these spaces to be able to provide factual information and understand that everyone processes in different ways. It was important we held this for our community and we will continue to do so as it is needed.
We know the April 28 incident on Arroyo Drive left many feeling shaken. But Tuesday’s meeting reminded us of the power of coming together, listening, and supporting one another. Let’s keep moving forward—stronger, more informed, and united as one South City.
If you missed the meeting and want to see the replay, you can do so here.
