Mayor Eddie's Newsletter - September 12, 2025
Published on September 12, 2025
Hello South City Community,

If you’ve passed by City Hall in the evening, you’ll see it’s lit up in purple in observation of Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide and mental health challenges can touch any of us - our loved ones, our neighbors, and ourselves. As your Mayor, and as someone who is deeply committed to breaking the stigma around mental health, I want you to know this: you are never alone, and you are never a bother.
Looking out for one another makes our South City community stronger. Please take this reminder to check on your family, friends, and neighbors, and please don’t forget to care for yourself, too. If you or someone you know is ever in crisis, you can dial 9-8-8 at any time, day or night, to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Please take a moment to explore the links below for local resources and information to support yourself and those you care about.

Thursday, September 18, 2:00 p.m.: Asian Art Museum presents The Silk Road

Before jet planes and smartphones, merchants, monks, pilgrims, and militia spent months or years traversing perilous routes to carry luxury goods and innovative ideas thousands of miles across the globe. As desirable commodities such as silk, porcelain, paper, tea, jade, amber, spices, ivory, gunpowder, gold, and silver were carried across the land and sea trade routes known as the Silk Road, so too were religions, ideas, and new technologies spread and propagated in all directions. In this program, travel the ancient routes that connected countries from the Mediterranean to the Pacific and discover the historic transformations that resulted from these complex cultural exchanges.

Help Shape the Future the South San Francisco Ferry Service

SF Bay Ferry is seeking public feedback as a part of its South San Francisco Ferry Service Study. See that page for information on the study as well as details on two outreach events (one in-person, one digital) being hosted by SF Bay Ferry in September 2025. The South S.F. ferry route has been SF Bay Ferry’s lowest performing route since its inception, with substantially lower ridership and farebox recovery than other services and highest required subsidy to offset expenses. The route’s post-2020 recovery has also not matched the level of other routes in the SF Bay Ferry system. More details are available in the agency’s May 2025 Board of Directors memo on the start of this study. Results of this survey will help guide the agency and its partners on service decisions going forward to ensure financial sustainability for ferry service in South San Francisco. No service or fare changes are anticipated to be made prior to mid-2026. This survey is anonymous.
